Honest Wedding Advice
Sometimes the advice is for the couple.
Sometimes the advice is for the vendors.
Regardless, I have almost 100K streams on 15 different platforms with the number one wedding podcast in the Philadelphia Tri-State area.
I'm Eric Scott Gold, DJ ESG, a private event DJ with over 30+ years of experience. These are my micro tips! The SHORT version of EVERYTHING, because Millennials and Gen Z's have the attention spans of a flea. I sugarcoat NOTHING. It's all from the heart and as RAW as it comes. I hope you can appreciate the honesty.
I have over 3,500 events under my belt with over 1000 online reviews. I'm a 7-time finalist for "International Mobile Entertainer Of The Year", a three-time "Best Of Philadelphia" winner, a two-time "Best Of San Diego" winner, and a two-time "Best Of Bucks" winner. I am the number one advocate in the nation for LGBTQ weddings and the first person to ever hold the pride flags up at the International DJ Expo during a live performance. I've also officiated over 200 weddings and over 50 same-sex weddings. Lastly, I had the amazing and distinguished honor of MCing (with my buddy Bob Palio behind the decks) Jason & Kylie Kelce's wedding. Yes, THAT Jason Kelce! #GoBirds

What's up guys? Dj ESG on Sweating Advice season number up again. I forgot the season again. But today I'm talking about Listen. It doesn't really matter what I talk about, because everything I'm going to give you on this podcast is going to be worth your while to listen to. And I'm telling you and it's only like one day advice You're going to get married once. Same way you're going to pop out a kid once, or maybe twice, twice or maybe three times, and that one day that you give birth, that's a very important day. And this wedding day, it's the first day of the rest of your life.
Speaker 1:So let me discuss with you what happened this past weekend at the wedding that I did on sunday. Bride and groom great couple, super nice. Now you guys know the hurricane just hit florida and alabama and all those states down um south georgia and it's coming up here, and it came up here pretty much all last weekend. It was drizzling. It was like off and on, off and on. The bride bless her soul, sweet as hell, gorgeous, very pretty girl and I mean like sophisticated, pretty, I mean great couple, very well put together wanted to have their wedding outside. I get it. So it started drizzling, stopped drizzling, started drizzling, stopped drizzling, got some battery-operated equipment because I have that.
Speaker 1:I went outside and we decided to have it outside. Now everybody had their umbrellas up because we had the crowd sit outside. It was like a mummer's fest. I could have played Golden Slippers, everybody would have had a great time. Came back inside after the fact.
Speaker 1:We had the ceremony outside, cocktails inside, sort of underneath an awning. We had the games on because it was Sunday. So she was like yeah, you know what, let's keep the games on. That way people will want to stay outside. They won't run away on their phones Not for everybody, but you know. And we lost, but we kept it on. It was kind of cool.
Speaker 1:And then went upstairs for dinner, had their toes, came back downstairs and had a party. It was really bright, yeah, sea and not fall, so you could probably do surgery under the tent area there was fluorescent lighting. But, dude, they had a great time. I mean, we had a conga line for God's sakes and I never have a conga line at a wedding anymore and they started their own conga line. I went in the Buster Poindexter's hot, hot, hot. I got it all on video. They came around the room, they danced the whole time. I mean, it was a fun evening and we took something that could have been really bad because of the rain and we made it into something very enjoyable.
Speaker 1:And it was all because the bride understood that she was going to go with the flow. She wanted to make it happen outside so people can have, you know, cool photos in the ceremony, but also she didn't want to be like. You know, listen, I spent all this time waiting, waiting, waiting, and I don't want to be outside. And she had vendors that were okay with flexibility, and we had the right equipment to be able to do what we had to do, and their guests were very accommodating. So what am I saying?
Speaker 1:If your heart is set on being outside for the ceremony, knowing that it could possibly rain, accommodations for the people that are coming, meaning they can stand inside until the last possible minute and then get them outside, or having the wherewithal to be calm, you know, not like, not like. You know like CBD calm and THC calm, but calm, although that did happen later. Um, just calm enough where you're able to go with the flow and not let anxiety take over, and being able to say okay, you know what, listen, we're at this point, here we go. We're going to go outside, it's going to be great and come back inside. It's not perfect, but it's at least what I wanted.
Speaker 1:Event location wise and being calm and having less anxiety and being able to be stable and zen is huge on your wedding day because you want to be able to enjoy and remember it Right. I'm telling you, if you're one of those people that's high anxiety and not able to cope with the fact that it could rain and you're going to be all over the place scatterbrained and just oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, and just let it completely rip you apart, think twice before you book your venue. But if you're going to be able to be that person that's going to be so even keel and so zen that you know that, regardless of what happens, even if it's not perfect, you're going to make the best out of it, then sky's the limit on what you can do. It's great advice and I had a great fucking party, so take it or leave it. I'm DJ ESG, I'll be back. Peace, love and God above, and I'm out. Bye-bye, thank you.
