Spinning Truths & Dropping Wedding Bombs: DJ ESG’s No-BS Guide to Your Big Day
- In a world where weddings are both chaos and perfection, DJ ESG—aka Eric Scott Gold—emerges as the wise-cracking, truth-dropping, mic-spinning legend the Philadelphia Tri-State area never knew it needed. Armed with nearly 175 thousand streams across 15 separate platforms, he’s the proud host of the region's number one wedding podcast, where advice flows freely—sometimes for couples, sometimes for vendors, and always delivered with the subtlety of a confetti cannon.
DJ ESG is not your average private event DJ; he’s a walking wedding encyclopedia with a sarcasm filter permanently set to "off." With 30+ years in the biz, over 3,500 events rocked, 1,000 glowing reviews, and a résumé so sparkly it could double as a disco ball, this guy doesn’t just sugarcoat reality—he skips the sugar altogether. Millennials and Gen Z? He sees you. He knows your flea-sized attention spans. That’s why his micro tips are short, snappy, and unfiltered, served with a heaping side of "you're welcome."
The accolades? Oh, they’re endless. Seven-time "International Mobile Entertainer of the Year" finalist. Multi-time "Best Of" winner in Philadelphia, San Diego, AND Bucks County. The nation’s loudest, proudest LGBTQ wedding advocate, and the first to hoist the Pride flags at the International DJ Expo like the hero weddings never knew they needed. Oh, and did we mention he’s officiated over 200 weddings? Including 50+ same-sex unions? Or that he had the honor of MCing THE Jason Kelce wedding with his buddy Bob on the decks? Yeah. #GoBirds indeed.
So, buckle up for DJ ESG's wedding wisdom—raw, real, and straight from the heart. Peace, Love, and God Above!

What's up, guys? Dj EST on his wedding advice, season number 10. And today I'm talking about another new fad sweeping TikTok, starting in North Jersey, just like everything else does. No, I'm not talking about another Jersey Shore episode. I'm talking about where the bride and groom come in first during the grand entrances and then they watch everybody else come in behind them so they can kind of see what's going on. Now there's two different ways of doing this. One bride and groom come in first, everybody else just comes in as separate pairs.
Speaker 1:People actually now have been coming in together with whoever they want, so it's not always bride and groom. No, that's shit. The bride and groom aren't in there. It's not always, you know, bridesmaid groomsmen Sometimes there's two bridesmaids, sometimes there's two groomsmen, sometimes there's three people. So basically what happens is, prior to the event starting, the bride and groom say listen, it's probably like a two or three-week window. We're going to have a contest, $100 is going to be up in the air and it's going to go to the best grand entrance to the wedding. You can pick whoever you want to come into the wedding with. Here's all the people coming into the wedding, here's all the people on the groomsmen, here's all the parents and you guys pick whoever you want, pick whatever song you want and you guys can come in. You know, obviously, two weeks prior to dj, myself get everything prepared and we will come in first and then we will have everybody else that's in the wedding, plus the dj, plus us vote on who has the best entrance and we will hand out a hundred dollar bill right then and there, when you come in the room.
Speaker 1:Now what do you think about that? I first heard about it and I was like I don't know, that's gonna be a lot of pain and suffering. You know, first you got to figure out who you're gonna come in with, then you got to buy props, then you got to give me the right song and what part of the song. Then you're gonna change the song a hundred times because you're gonna make me crazy. And I was like, okay, let me put a stipulation on this. I have to have the song before the Monday before the event, with the exact time that you want to come in.
Speaker 1:Nowadays you don't have to edit songs, you can just cue them up. It takes three seconds. So any DJ that says to you I have to take this into a studio and edit them all down one by one, by one by one. It's going to cost you 150 dollars. Now that dji said to go kiss my ass because that doesn't need to happen.
Speaker 1:Serato and virtual dj have what we call cue points. You climb up to the queue, hit the button and that's where the song starts and you can fire it off on the queue. It takes two seconds, okay, um? So you come to the room and here comes the bride and groom, whatever song they want. And now here's money a hundred dollars or a gift certificate or something. And now the next bridal party or the parents or the next person coming in will come into their song.
Speaker 1:They get 20 seconds or so they get to put on a show. They can wear whatever the hell they want. They can wear blow-ups, they can wear a costume, they go whatever they wanted to wear, they can wear. Or they can just come in the room and wave like two dumb trends, like like hello, I'm coming in the room, whatever you want to do, and you come in the room and then next person comes in the room and at the very end you know crowd reaction each time somebody comes in and then we vote. You know, I pretty much know by crowd reaction where I'm going at the end with like which two or three people or which two or three couples, and then from there you get the lattice applause and then the bride and groom hands them over a prize and it makes the grand entrances cool and it's fun and it's something different and you know you get something. There's there's, there's incentive, there's instant gratification. So it's something cool, it's something different, it's something they're doing now.
Speaker 1:Um, it came down from jersey. I've done it three times already in the last two or three months. Uh, one time there was no prize. Two times there was a prize. One time it was $100. The second time it was $200. And we handed it over immediately as soon as it happened.
Speaker 1:The bride and groom actually were given the money back twice. The couple took the money and then gave it right back to the bride and groom, which was kind of cute and kind of funny, but you know it was what it was. They actually wound up giving it to the bartenders later on in the night as a bigger tip for taking care of everybody both couples. So I thought that was really really cool. So the bartenders got hooked up. I don't think they would have gotten hooked up like that earlier, but they were both bartenders, or all the bartenders at both places I was at did a really nice job and it was really cool. So, anyway, it's just, it's something new, it's something different, it's something you guys can do, something you guys can think about. It's great advice. Everything I try to say here is great advice. It's honest wedding advice. I wouldn't lead you down the wrong road. I'll tell you how it is every single time, whether or not you like it or not.
