What's up guys? Dj ESG on Wedding Advice, season number 12. I had to move downstairs today for a little bit. I got some rent that was going on upstairs, but check this out.
Speaker 1:I had a wedding this past weekend where the bride and groom told me when it was over, yo, I tried to go to the bathroom like 10 times. And this is like both of them, like the bride and the groom Every time I went to go to the bathroom I had to come back because you were killing it, banger after banger, after banger after banger. So I'm like, all right, you guys were just, you guys got to come back and come back and talk to me. So I was like go go. So I was packing up and they came back and they were like, yo, every single time I was literally going to the bathroom, you played another banger and I said what was the key factor here, like what happened here during this wedding, that made me, or made you want to stay the entire time, like your, your guests had a blast, like everybody was saying you know, thank you, this, that and everything. I mean what was the main key ingredient? Like what, what was the one thing? And I I kind of interviewed them, I was like listen, I want you to put this on camera because I want people to see this. It wasn't the best video I've ever taken because the lighting was terrible, it was dark and they were kind of drunk, so I don't want to put that on film, but they were like yo, I let you do what you do. I basically said here's some songs that we have to have six total and I made moments out of all six of them and the rest of it was just do what you do. And I knew how old the bride was, I knew how old the groom was.
Speaker 1:I listened during the ceremony, I listened during the toast. I had notes on paper. I took it like I took it to heart, I was listening and I used those to my advantage later. So, like there were songs during the ceremony that were mentioned, there were songs during the cocktail that were asked for, there was stuff mentioned during the speeches from the best man made of honor. Even the daughter, because it was a second marriage for one, was telling me X, y and Z in the speech. I was listening, so I'm like jotting down. I'm like listen, this will work, this will work, this will work, this will work.
Speaker 1:So we get to the point where the dance floor starts to fizzle out, maybe a little bit, and then boom, next banger, boom, next banger, boom, next banger. And I'm sitting there like, yeah, you know, this is how it's supposed to go, like, this is what happens when people just let me do what I'm supposed to do and it works. It works. That's why I got this belt. It says the GOAT, it says the greatest of all time, est, est, the EST of the wedding industry, the best, the greatest. I mean that's all kayfabe. You know what I mean. This is all wrestling shit, but I'm telling you, when people let me do what I'm supposed to do, it works.
Speaker 1:Now there's younger dudes, or one-off dudes, or random dudes that don't understand that. They just play like the hot song of the day or they play the remixes. I think it's cool. Or everything is up with the 128 BPMs and it's like it sounds like a Jersey club, which you know that could be cool in a Jersey club. It's not what people want at a wedding. And like I just knew like what to play. And it was one after another. And when you have that kind of experience and you understand what a client's looking for. It's like gold, it's liquid fucking gold. Dude, I'm telling you, and that's what it is. And people that let me do what I got to do at a wedding and just make it happen are the ones who always tell me at the end of the day that it's a success.
Speaker 1:It's when you start picking out every single song that you have to play, and now I'm like I got a referral to put this one through. I would have that you have to play. And now I'm like I gotta, if I were to put this one, if I were to put this one. And then you're like what's the point of hiring me? Well, I wanna make sure my songs get played. Okay, well then, hire Johnny from down the street.
Speaker 1:Hire that deuce nozzle. Okay, hire him. Hire the kid that's 28 years old, that just bought a pair of speakers that only can go up to 127 dBs. Are the Rolls Royce speakers 137, and that's at one. You know that's at 75%.
Speaker 1:I'm cranking those things up and you can hear those things down the corner and around the block and through the field and through the woods and up the tree. It's no white can hear them and they're wicking their fuck up Like oh, forget it. Here goes the apple, here comes no white Boom. So that's the point I'm trying to make. You know what I mean. It's like you got a DJ that knows what they're doing. It's gold. You got a photographer, videographer, a venue that knows what they're doing. Let them do what they do, just let them. Let them make the magic happen. That's what you're paying for. Don't try to micromanage it, don't try to oversee it, don't try to, you know, put people in charge, say, you know. Don't try to figure out what to do. Oh, this will work better. Oh, let's do this. We know, as vendors, what we're doing and if we don't, then you hired the wrong vendor. Do your Google research.
